Universal Advertising, inc., a state of Georgia, subchapter S corporation, has ceased operations as of November 30, 2008.
If you have recently placed a classifid ad in a newspaper through Universal Advertising, that ad has been delivered to the intended publication and will be printed.
For more than 12 years, Universal Advertising has strived to provide the easiest to use classified point of sale system, designed primarily for college newspapers. I never thought it would end this way. Most entrepreneurs don't.
In 1998, Universal Advertising was one of the very first companies in the U.S. to establish a self serve classified ordering system. In 2003, it was the first (and to this date) the only system capable of being rebranded for individual media and to simultaneously offer multi market ad buys, all on a single invoice.
As has been said before, the pioneers are not necessarily the ones who make it, the ones who get the credit, nor the gold. Yes, lessons have been learned.
There is much I wish I could share with the world, and customers of Universal Advertising - why we are at this point, the things that lead to this situation. But for now, all I can publicly say, is "Thank you!" from the bottom of my heart - to my customers, and to the many college media advisors past and present I have come to know and appreciate so much. I will communicate with you further in the coming days.
For those newspapers who need to replace your classified ordering system, I strongly, strongly recommend contacting Jay Shauer of Ad2Ad.com. Ad2Ad has the largest network of both college and professional community newspapers that you can find. And, Ad2Ad has the economic stability to weather the current downturn, something that Universal Advertising simply could not do.
Many college newspapers have been approached by competing services. But I cannot say it clearly enough - your best long term bet is with Ad2Ad. Public and private comments not withstanding, competing services in the college newspaper space do not have the literal "bank" to withstand what is coming. Contact Jay Shauer of Ad2Ad.com
For customers/advertisers who need to place a classified ad in one of the college or community newspapers formerly available through Universal Advertising, please read further, or follow this link. Over the month of December, additional college newspapers will likely be added to this list, so if you don't find the publication you are looking for, check back in a few days.
Sincerely,
Derrick Peavy
